R&B,
unabbreviated Rhythm & Blues, became popular during 1940’s and has its roots
deeply set in Gospel, Deep South and Folk music. By the 1970’s Rhythm & Blues
received the acronym R&B as coined by Billboard Magazine. It refers to the Soul
and Funk infused music that we are familiar with today from artists such as Aaliyah, Usher and Alicia Keys.
