Universities back in the days of Plato and Socrates
was anywhere that people would gather to discuss thoughts, ideas, theories,
dreams, or whatever the topics of the day were.
There have been many changes since that time. Colleges and Universities are now institutions
where we are educated and trained to enter the work force with a certain degree
of knowledge.
But perhaps the greatest lessons learned in school
are those life lessons that you can’t find in a book… For instance:
We learn the proper way to
interact with the opposite sex without pulling their hair and chasing them
around a swing set.
While undergoing our education we learn a lot about
our personal boundaries and limitations.
For example: How many chili dogs
we can consume in one sitting, and the number of beers we can pour into our
bellies.
Whether you agree with it or not, those are very
important lessons to get out of our systems prior to entering the work
force. Face it, wouldn’t you rather know
that your local air traffic controller has already figured out how many hours
of sleep he/she needs in order to do their job the best of their ability?
